2025 Music Favorites

This is a blog post that has nothing to do with videos, and everything to do with the music I have loved the last year. I have a good mix of bluegrass, americana, and southern gospel. Here is the full YouTube playlist if you don’t want to scroll through the blog.

Brennen Leigh-Running Out Of Hope Arkansas

I believe this is the first time Brennen Leigh has had a song in my favorites. She is very clever and this song shows it.

Tasha Harris-Gleams Of That Golden Morning

This is a classic bluegrass gospel number. I think this was a youtube recommendation.

Jason Isbell - Ride To Roberts

Whenever Jason releases a new album I always listen. This was my favorite off “Foxes in the Snow”.

Adam McIntosh - Higher Than I

Adam was a member of Joe Mullins and the Radio Ramblers. Not sure if I heard this at one of their shows or on the King of Kings radio.

Rosanne Cash - Sunken Lands

We saw Rosanne at Danville. This was the song that got stuck in my head.

J.M. Clifford - Complicated Man

Bronwyn Keith-Hynes mentioned on Instagram that she played fiddle or sang on the album version of this song. I checked it out. Loved it.

The Kings Heralds - Jesus Rose of Sharon

I have become quite the Kings Heralds fan over the last few years. I had never heard this hymn before. We don’t sing it at our church, but I thought it was beautiful.

The Hoppers - Shouting Time In Heaven

I was a big fan of The Hoppers as a child. I had one of their CDs. I hadn’t listened to them in years, but they played at a church in Liberty. We went and it was amazing. As a kid my favorite song of theirs was “Yes I Am”. I got to hear it live at that concert. They also played “Shouting Time In Heaven”. This was the one I couldn’t stop listening to.

Sarah Kate Morgan and Leo Shannon - When I Wake Up To Sleep No More

The day after The Hoppers concert Aunt E and I went to see Watchhouse at EKU. Sarah Kate Morgan and Leo Shannon opened for Watchhouse. I was shocked to see someone playing dulcimer. Before this concert I thought I would start learning dulcimer and seeing them play pushed me over the edge. Because of this song, I bought their CD.

Watchhouse - Beyond Meaning

To prepare for the Watchhouse concert I listened through their new album “Rituals” several times. This was my favorite off the new album.

The Hoppers - Before the Sun Goes Down

Once I started watching Hoppers videos on YouTube, I started getting more recommendations. It is great to listen to at the end of the day.

Gaither Homecoming - I’m Living In Canaan Now

After I started listening to the Hoppers, YouTube also started recommending Gaither Homecoming videos. You cannot beat Vestal Goodman. The piano playing is wonderful.

Brennen Leigh - I’m Easy To Love After All

Brennen has a new album coming out (or has already come out). Love the pedal steel. These two just got married at the end of the year too.
